I may have been a little quieter than normal, but this was due to my long weekend away in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. As you would expect, I am sat on a plane – this time I am flying with British Airways – typing this post for you and looking back at some of the fantastic memories from the last few days. What a lovely break this has been!
If you’re looking for a relaxing, yet affordable City break, then Prague is definitely the place to go. Sights will overwhelm you – from churches and synagogues to castles and museums, the locals are full of kindness and are very friendly. Plus lets not forget the food, your tummy will be tickled with the delights of Czech cuisine and I have no doubts in recommending you wash it down with a nice cold pint (or two…maybe three) of Pivo (beer)!
Located just short of 2 hours by plane from London, not only is Prague a beautiful City, but it is very well interconnected – buses, trams, taxis, bikes, you name it it’s there – but most importantly, everything is so close to one another that you can walk everywhere and get your heart pumping.
Since, I was mixing pleasure with work, I have had a busy schedule – I arrived late in the afternoon on Friday and left at midday on Monday. Not only did I manage to discover the entire City and walk over 18km (around 11 miles) over 3 days, I also had time to do some of my marking, complete my teaching plan for the Second Semester and plan a few marketing campaigns for my Clients. And of course, dine and unwind.
Things to discover
Prague has a number of beautiful and well-known landmarks such as Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, the National Museum and Powder Tower, which are all worth having a look around. I would also recommend a walk up to Petrin Lookout Tower – it’s 20-35 min walk from Prague Castle, but well worth the trek. The views from the top are just priceless and this is even on a cold and snowy day like when I was there.
Being in Prague when it was snowing was very special, even though the temperatures were –9°C, the views were so majestic under their blanket of the cold white fluffy stuff!
I hope this post gives you a little of inspiration to go out and Czech out Prague! No doubt, I will be heading there again soon.
Travel safe!
